This question came to me this morning, I'll let you guess why. Here you go:
When is it appropriate (if ever) to answer your cell phone in a public restroom where others are taking care of business alongside you?
I'm looking for opinions on this one so don't be bashful with the comments.
And no, it was not me that answered said phone.

Rude and disgusting! Women do it all the time. I think it is rude to the other people stuck in close proximity to you. The stall door does not mean you are in a sound proof room! And it is rude to the person on the other end of the phone. I won't begin to detail the reasons that I think it is disgusting! Yuck!
We're trained by technology that five minutes is an ETERNITY to wait to talk to someone...and therefore it MUST be rude to make someone wait, even if they call when you're in the restroom.
I say it's time to retrain...and I would go even further to call for a cell-phone free national holiday, just to remind everyone (including myself) that it's okay to put it down.

(you probably didn't even know I was following your blog, did you?)
Dad has a running commentary going on this - " it's your call"
"I talked to Faye in the airport
bathroom while having diarrhea"
"If you don't want to talk, turn it
off" " I don't see what difference
it makes ..........
Mom says, " I think it is Rude and
disgusting too."
This is a tough one, because bathroom etiquette demands that we ignore people around us. That's why we don't say "does anyone mind if I take this call?"
Usually when this happens to me I end the call quickly: "Hi Mom! I can't talk because I need both hands to zip up!"
Great thoughts, everyone. I like your idea, James, a cell-phone free holiday would be fantastic. I've decided that you should only answer personal calls with others around if you are washing up and about to walk out. For business calls, let it go to vmail. For personal calls with no one around, well, give me a call sometime and I'll let you guess my answer to that.
JOSH.... josh....I'm just shaking my head and making fun of you for this post. haha.
Yup...still shaking my head and making fun you.
